Defeating Distress, Despair and Destruction!

Grace to you kingdom citizens, and peace be unto you as you flow in the fulness of the blessing with the knowledge of the King Jesus

Last month we talked about 5 things we are not or 5 attitudes we should not have as we walk through the trials, temptations and tests of life in our kingdom faith walk. I trust that it helped you flow through the month and as you do I have been impressed to embellish on it for a bit longer. What is kingdom faith? I’m glad you asked. Kingdom faith is the force of the spirit that contacts the kingdom of God and all the benefits of its government.

The kingdom of God is invisible and faith is the currency that moves that government according to its laws and principles. Jesus said to seek first the Kingdom of God so seeking first is the most important principle of the kingdom. The next thing Jesus said was “and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.” That’s Matthew 6:33. Let's look a little closer at this legal saying and decree from our King from another translation:

“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things but you know God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” Matt 6:30-33 (MSG)

There is a powerful statement here where it says People who don’t know God and how He works fuss or worry over things. This is the seeking the kingdom of God and his righteousness part of the KJV. When you look at that verse as religious you can’t see the kingdom of God. How can you seek what you can’t see? You can be like Nicodemus and only see what Jesus was doing through pious eyes instead of seeing the rights of a citizen in his government. The king was making a decree that the answer to distress, despair and the sense of abandonment of the bad government you are in now is to seek, observe and explore the government of God and what it takes to function there. Once you do those two things then what you need will be added to you without fail or toil.

The Kingdom of God is a far better government than democracy or any modern government worldwide. This is a steep learning curve for those of us in a democracy sustained by capitalism. Jesus, our King, is showing us how to relax and not be preoccupied with stuff and how to get it. Comparing your stuff to the stuff of others leads to frustration and the temptation to quit. If you haven’t started depending on God's government it’s never too late and if you have been doing so and are feeling fatigued by it don’t quit.

Nicodemus only mentally assented to the way Jesus was flowing in His kingship rights and privileges and never sought a spiritual way to see it. Faith is the only way to see the kingdom and obedience is the only way to enter in. It should be obvious that what we see has to be made by what we can’t see. When we see a baby it’s just that; a baby. The person that is developing inside though is made a living spirit by what we can’t see. Jesus was simply making it plain to Nicodemus and he still had problems. There is an influence of another government that we can’t see but it is real nonetheless.

“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes. Matt: 6:34

Giving your attention to what God is doing now will help keep you focused and protect you from being troubled about what you don't have yet. If you are looking to what God is doing now you are in faith and excitement should be the order of the day. Your hope-meter should indicate anticipation instead of pessimism and desperation. Anxiety leads to depression and that is hard to fathom if you are looking into the kingdom of God and how it works. The enemy has a job, and that is to cause you to look at what is not necessary. He told Eve to look at the tree of knowledge so she could gain an advantage over God! As if……..

“Listen carefully to what I am saying—and be wary of the shrewd advice that tells you how to get ahead in the world on your own. Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity. Stinginess impoverishes.” Mark 4:24 (MSG)

Jesus said Don’t get it twisted. Giving is the kingdom way; not getting. Jesus who was from the kingdom of heaven was here on earth teaching against shrewd advisors that try to tell you that getting ahead on your own can be done this way when in fact if they read Matthew 5 they would know this…

“Trivialize even the smallest item in God’s Law and you will only have trivialized yourself. But take it seriously, show the way for others, and you will find honor in the kingdom. Unless you do far better than the Pharisees in the matters of right living, you won’t know the first thing about entering the kingdom.” Matt 5:19 (MSG)

The King James Bible says it this way:

“Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom.” Matt 5:19

You can tell by all those who teach others to do something else by trivializing the Word of The King that they are called the least in the kingdom. Don’t get it twisted. Whose report are you going to believe? The king of the kingdom and the Head of the Body, the Church, Who is the Beginning, the firstborn from among the dead or the big-institution-educated with big letters in front and behind their name? Letters in front or behind your name won't get it done. Jesus told the rich man who came to him about inheriting eternal life to sell all and distribute to the poor. Jesus also told the poor to give so that they can inherit the kingdom of heaven.

“Peter tried another angle: “We left everything and followed you.” Jesus said, “Mark my words, no one who sacrifices house, brothers, sisters, mother, father, children, land—whatever—because of me and the Message will lose out. They’ll get it all back, but multiplied many times in homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and land—but also in troubles. And then the bonus of eternal life! This is once again the Great Reversal: Many who are first will end up last, and the last first.” Mark 10:28-31 (MSG)

Jesus, the King, said that it would be hard for the rich to enter into the kingdom of God, in fact impossible. Why, you ask? Their wealth will always be their God and therefore will never choose faith above spending. That however is only if the rich don’t do things God's way. With the power of God and the obedience to His Word the rich can flow free indeed. God is not trying to keep the children of the kingdom broke. It is never the King's idea to reduce His wealth because the king is always looking to expand and he indeed is measured by his wealth. Remember it will be the Nicodemus's of the world who can’t see how you are doing so much with so much less. “How did you make brick without straw?” they’ll ask of you.

“You can’t worship two gods at once. Loving one god, you’ll end up hating the other. Adoration of one feeds contempt for the other. You can’t worship God and Money both.” Matthew 6:24 | MSG

The Master says that adoration for money will feed contempt for God. This is why all of us in the kingdom have to be careful what we utter before God. Make sure that your envy or jealousy or anxiety doesn’t flow from your mouth by saying froward things. Questioning God's way or comparing yourself to others can only further you from your destiny. Trust God and His way of doing things and learn as Paul learned.

“I’m glad in God, far happier than you would ever guess—happy that you’re again showing such strong concern for me. Not that you ever quit praying and thinking about me. You just had no chance to show it. Actually, I don’t have a sense of needing anything personally. I’ve learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances. I’m just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I’ve found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.” Phil 4:10-13 MSG

Don’t be distressed and don’t be desperate. Don’t fall into the false sense of abandonment nor allow yourself to feel destroyed or without hope! Don’t do life without God or His kingdom no matter how good the advisors sound. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all the things you seek for in life will be added to you without fail or toil. Flow!
